Businesswoman Sarah Mtalii has firmly dismissed claims that she has rekindled her relationship with estranged husband Simon Kabu, following a wave of online speculation triggered by viral photos of the two aboard a yacht in Dar es Salaam.
Speaking from her office, Mtalii clarified that the appearance was strictly business-related, tied to a Bonfire Adventures marketing event—the travel company she co-founded with Kabu.
“We were on a marketing event for Bonfire, together with my co-director, Mr Kabu – my ex-husband – to celebrate on the yacht in Dar es Salaam,” she explained in a statement seen by sauce.co.ke.
While confirming their presence together during the Dar trip, Sarah emphasized that their interaction was purely professional.
“We are not back together. We are finalising our divorce in the courts and by this July we will be having our certificates,” she said, noting that the legal separation process is nearly complete.
Mtalii also took a swipe at bloggers and gossip sites, accusing some of spreading misleading narratives without verifying facts.
“I don’t know if I’ll be able to declare [the divorce] or not, but bloggers should verify stories. Stop spreading lies.”
The rumour mill went into overdrive after photos of Sarah and Simon aboard a luxury yacht began circulating online, prompting suggestions from gossip outlets that the former couple had reunited romantically.
However, this isn’t the first time the Bonfire Adventures co-founders have been at the centre of public scrutiny regarding their relationship. The couple’s rocky marriage and separation have previously played out in the media, drawing widespread attention.
Sarah insists that despite the optics, there is no romantic reconciliation in the works. The yacht outing was part of a marketing initiative aimed at expanding Bonfire’s East African presence.
