Nairobi, Kenya – August 14, 2025 : The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has arrested a police officer from Sarangombe Police Post in Kibera over allegations of soliciting and receiving a bribe in connection with a defilement case.

Officer Allegedly Demanded Ksh.4,000 to Act on Defilement Case

According to the EACC, Police Constable Philip Ochieng Adongo is accused of demanding Ksh.4,000 from a complainant to facilitate the arrest of a suspect accused of defiling her daughter.

The complainant had earlier reported the incident at the same station under OB No. 16/18/07/2025, but no action was taken. This prompted her to seek help from the EACC, which set up an operation to catch the officer in the act.

Arrest Operation and Suspects’ Detention

The anti-graft body revealed that George Otieno Oywer, an alleged accomplice, received the bribe on behalf of PC Adongo. Both suspects were immediately arrested and taken to the EACC Integrity Centre in Nairobi for processing.

The commission has maintained its stance on tackling corruption within the police service, urging citizens to report similar cases.
