Nairobi, Kenya.Kenyan police are investigating the deaths of two British nationals who died in separate incidents this week in Nairobi and Kilifi counties.
British Man Found Dead in Riverside Home, Nairobi
In the first case, 95-year-old Haynes Trevor was found dead on Friday, August 2, in his bed at his residence on Riverside Drive, Nairobi.
According to police reports, Trevor had been battling complications related to cancer. Medical records recovered at the scene indicated he had been receiving treatment at a Nairobi-based private hospital.
His body, discovered several hours after his death, was moved to the mortuary for an autopsy. Investigators say no foul play is suspected at this stage.
Second British National Dies at Watamu Villa
Meanwhile, in Watamu, Kilifi County, 81-year-old Gregory John Richard died on Sunday, August 3, after developing breathing difficulties at a private villa where he was staying.
According to a police statement, the villa’s caretaker called a doctor, but Richard was pronounced dead at the scene. He had arrived in Kenya on May 25, 2025, and was due to return to the UK on August 25.
Last month, he underwent surgery to correct an intestinal obstruction. His body has been taken to the mortuary for further examination.
Investigations Underway
Police say investigations into both deaths are ongoing, with support from local hospitals, immigration authorities, and the British High Commission in Nairobi.
“We are working closely with consular officials to inform the families and ensure all proper procedures are followed,” said a senior Kilifi officer.
