Detectives in Nyamira County have launched investigations following the brutal killing of a Form Three student from Ikonge Secondary School.
The 17-year-old student’s body was discovered on Saturday evening in Maitunya village, Sengera, lying by the roadside near a local tea buying centre. Authorities said the boy had been killed hours earlier before his body was abandoned at the scene.
Confirming the incident, police noted that initial assessments point to murder, though the motive behind the attack remains unclear. Investigators have begun tracing key leads that could help identify the assailants.
“This is a disturbing case involving a young student, and we are pursuing all possible angles to establish what transpired,” said a senior officer aware of the probe.
Shocked villagers condemned the incident and called for swift justice, describing the boy as disciplined and hardworking.
The body was taken to a local mortuary pending a post-mortem examination as police intensify their manhunt for the killers.
