A 14-year-old boy, identified as Brian, is nursing serious injuries after he was allegedly assaulted by a Catholic priest at St. Peters Catholic Church, Mugango Parish in Bomet County.

Beaten With a Club

According to the boy’s father, Stephen Rono, Brian was beaten several times on the head with a club by the priest, whose identity remains undisclosed.

“I found him on a boda boda, badly beaten. If he was wrong, why use a club? I want answers,” said Rono.

The motive behind the priest’s violent reaction has not been revealed, with the family saying no clear explanation has been provided by the parish.

Medical Report Confirms Injuries

Brian was rushed to Chelimo Hospital, where medical officer Gilbert Rono confirmed the extent of his injuries.

“He was in a bad state, with soft tissue injuries on the head and hands. His eyes were red with blood clots. We administered first aid, and he is now recovering,” Rono told reporters.

Call for Justice

The father has since recorded a statement with authorities in Bomet, demanding justice and accountability from the church.

Residents of Mugango Parish have expressed shock over the incident, with many urging the Catholic Church to take responsibility and ensure that children are protected within its institutions.

Police have launched investigations into the matter.
