Kericho County, Kenya, September 22, 2025 – Litein Boys High School has been closed indefinitely after students went on a violent rampage on Sunday night, destroying school property and attempting to invade a nearby girls’ school.

The cause of the unrest remains unclear. Some reports link the chaos to complaints about poor diet, while others claim students were angered after being denied a chance to watch the Premier League clash between Arsenal and Manchester City.

Witnesses say students switched off all lights in the compound, overpowering security officers before carrying out widespread destruction under the cover of darkness. The value of the damaged property has yet to be established.

County education officials confirmed the closure and said investigations are underway to establish the motive and hold those responsible accountable.
