Police in Kikuyu have arrested a University of Nairobi student suspected of fatally stabbing his roommate following a heated dispute over bathroom use.

The victim, identified as Brian Wambui, a third-year student, reportedly sustained fatal stab wounds after an argument escalated into violence. Witnesses said the dispute began over toilet use and cleaning responsibilities, with tensions rising after disagreements on who should flush and clean the hostel toilet.

Wambui’s body was moved to PCEA Thogoto Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination.

The suspect, identified as Justus Otieno, was arrested and is currently being held at Kikuyu Police Station. Police confirmed that he will remain in custody pending investigations before being arraigned in court.

Authorities have urged students and young people to find peaceful ways of resolving conflicts, warning that minor disputes can easily escalate into deadly confrontations.
