Police in Nandi County are investigating a disturbing domestic incident in which a 30-year-old man was found dead after being assaulted by his relatives in Songoliet village.

The deceased, identified as Markson Kipkurgat, was discovered lifeless in a nearby thicket with multiple head injuries.

Family Dispute Turns Deadly

According to police reports, the fight broke out during a domestic disagreement, though the exact cause remains unclear.
Two of Kipkurgat’s relatives were also injured in the confrontation, which escalated violently before turning fatal.

“We received reports of a domestic altercation that ended tragically. The deceased was found with severe head injuries and pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital,” a police officer said.

Revenge Attack Suspected

Investigators suspect that the deceased may have been attacked in an act of revenge following a previous dispute within the family.

Police said they are awaiting the recovery of the two injured relatives, who will be questioned as part of ongoing investigations into the suspected murder.

Body Taken to Hospital for Autopsy

The body of Markson Kipkurgat was moved to the Nandi County Referral Hospital Mortuary for a postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.

Authorities have urged residents to resolve domestic and inheritance-related disputes through legal and community mediation channels to prevent further loss of life.
