Former Cabinet Secretary for Gender, Culture, the Arts and Heritage, Aisha Jumwa, has announced the death of her mother, Sidi.
In a statement released on Sunday, Jumwa said her mother passed away earlier in the day after a short illness.
“With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Sidi, who died today after a brief illness,” the statement read.
Jumwa paid glowing tribute to her mother, describing her as the pillar and heart of the family. She noted that Sidi lived a life marked by love, compassion, dignity, and humanity.
“She was the foundation and soul of our family, living with love, compassion and humanity. Her memory will live on forever in our hearts,” Jumwa said.
She concluded her message with an Islamic prayer, “Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un,” meaning, “Indeed we belong to God, and indeed to Him we shall return.”
Aisha Jumwa, who currently serves as the Chairperson of the Kenya Roads Board, announced that the burial of her late mother will take place on Monday at 10 a.m. at their family home in Takaungu, Mnarani Ward, Kilifi North Constituency, Kilifi County.
The announcement has drawn condolences from leaders and Kenyans across the country, who have expressed sympathy with Jumwa and her family during the difficult time.
