Renowned radio journalist Festus Amimo has died, his family and close associates confirmed on Friday.

Until his passing, Amimo served as the Head of Mayienga FM, the Luo-language station under the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC). He also chaired the Luo Journalists Association, where he was widely respected for his leadership and mentorship of young journalists.

Details surrounding his sudden death remain unclear, as the family has not yet disclosed the cause.

Friends, colleagues, and members of the media fraternity have begun sharing tributes, describing Amimo as a dedicated broadcaster who made an immense contribution to vernacular journalism in Kenya.

More information regarding funeral arrangements is expected to be released by the family.
