A building under construction has collapsed in South C, Nairobi County, prompting an urgent multi-agency emergency response.

In a statement issued early this morning, the Kenya Red Cross confirmed that the incident occurred at the Shopping Centre area of South C. Emergency teams were swiftly dispatched to the scene to manage the situation and assist any possible victims trapped under the debris.

“A multi-agency emergency response team has been deployed to the scene and is actively managing the situation,” the Kenya Red Cross said in a post shared on X (formerly Twitter).

Rescue operations are ongoing as first responders work to assess the extent of the damage and establish whether there are casualties. Authorities have cordoned off the area to allow emergency personnel to conduct search and rescue efforts safely.

The cause of the collapse has not yet been established, and officials say investigations will be launched once rescue operations are complete. Incidents involving buildings under construction have raised renewed concerns over adherence to safety standards and construction regulations in Nairobi.

Members of the public have been urged to avoid the area to allow rescue teams to work without obstruction. Further updates are expected as more details emerge from the scene.
