A 44-year-old man was killed while another was injured after a eucalyptus tree they were cutting fell on them in Nyamondo village, Mosocho, Kisii County.

Police said the incident occurred on January 20 as the two men were felling the tree when it suddenly collapsed, trapping both of them.

One of the men, identified as Wilson Makori, sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. His colleague suffered serious injuries to his hand and was rushed to a nearby hospital for specialised treatment.

Police confirmed that the body of the deceased was moved to the mortuary as investigations and other procedures continue.
