Detectives have launched investigations into a tragic incident in Madogo, Tana River County, where a 29-year-old man allegedly killed his wife and one-year-old daughter before taking his own life.

Police and witnesses identified the man as Joshua Kithendu. His body was found hanging from a roof truss with a rope tied around his neck hours after the February 22 incident.

Wife and Child Found Dead in Rental House

According to police reports, the bodies of his wife and their young daughter were discovered lying inside the same room.

Neighbours told investigators that Kithendu had recently secured a new job in Garissa Town and was preparing to relocate.

It is alleged that he summoned his wife for talks amid reported domestic disputes between the couple. During the confrontation, he allegedly stabbed her in the chest, killing her.

Police further stated that the child was later strangled inside the rental house.

Investigations Ongoing

Authorities say it remains unclear what triggered the fatal incident. The bodies were moved to the mortuary pending post-mortem examinations as detectives continue with investigations.

The tragic episode has left residents in shock, with police urging members of the public to seek help when facing domestic or emotional distress.
