A 37-year-old motorcycle rider was electrocuted at a car wash yard in Kadzandani, Mombasa County, in a tragic incident that has shocked residents.

Police and locals identified the victim as Daniel Mungai Kinuthia.

Incident at Mwembeni Car Wash

According to authorities, Kinuthia had gone to a car wash yard in the Mwembeni area on Sunday to clean his motorcycle. The yard was reportedly his usual washing spot.

However, upon arrival, he did not find any attendants on duty and decided to wash the motorcycle himself.

Police and witnesses said he was electrocuted in the process. He was rushed to hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Body Moved to Mortuary

The body was later transferred to the mortuary pending a post-mortem examination.

Police have launched investigations into the incident.

Authorities note that many similar cases have previously been linked to illegal electricity connections and substandard wiring carried out by unqualified technicians, raising concerns over safety standards at informal car wash yards.
