Detectives are investigating an incident in which a police officer attached to a team guarding the President’s residence collapsed and died while on duty at State House Mombasa.

The police constable was found unconscious at his assigned post within the premises and was rushed to hospital for emergency treatment.

Doctors at Jocham Hospital pronounced him dead on arrival on the morning of February 25.

Complained of Abdominal Pain

It remains unclear what caused the officer’s death.

Colleagues revealed that he had earlier complained of abdominal pain before collapsing. Officials who responded to the scene said he sustained a chin injury after falling.

Body Moved to Mortuary

Police said the body was moved to a mortuary pending a postmortem examination to establish the exact cause of death.

Investigations are ongoing.
