A 37-year-old fisherman has died following a violent altercation with fellow fishermen at Mukuyu Beach in Homa Bay County.

The deceased, identified as Fredrick Oduol, was among a group fishing on Lake Victoria when a dispute broke out in the deep waters on April 27.

According to police, the cause of the confrontation remains unclear, but the situation escalated into a physical assault that left Oduol seriously injured.

He was rushed to hospital for treatment but sadly succumbed to his injuries two days later.

Officers later visited the scene as part of ongoing investigations into the incident. The body has since been moved to a local mortuary, where a postmortem examination is expected to help determine the exact cause of death.

The case has been classified as a suspected murder, with authorities working to establish what triggered the deadly dispute among the fishermen.
