Millicent Omanga Reacts After Removal From Kenya Shipyards Board

Nairobi County Woman Representative aspirant Millicent Omanga has reacted after being removed from a government board position she claims she was unaware she still held.

In a gazette notice signed by Defence Cabinet Secretary Soipan Tuya, Omanga was officially removed as a member of the Board of Directors of Kenya Shipyards Limited with immediate effect.

The development comes shortly after Omanga publicly distanced herself from President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and aligned herself with the DCP party linked to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Reacting to the announcement, Omanga appeared amused by the decision, claiming she did not even know she was still serving on the board.

“Apparently I’ve just been officially removed from a board I didn’t even know I was still serving on. Impressive level of coordination. Decisions being made about roles that only exist on paper. Lol,” she said.

According to reports, her appointment to the board had been made in January 2025.

The move has since sparked political debate online, with some linking the removal to the shifting political alliances ahead of the 2027 General Election.
