Detectives have launched investigations into the murder of a 22-year-old woman who was fatally stabbed while waiting to board a matatu at Nakuru Stage in Lari, Kiambu County.
The victim, identified as Mukuhi Tabitha Waithira, sustained a deep stab wound before running to a nearby hotel in search of help, where she collapsed and died.
Woman Collapsed While Seeking Help
According to police, the incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, July 5.
A witness told investigators he was asleep in his rented house opposite Nakuru Stage at around 5 a.m. when he was awakened by a man shouting in Swahili, “Unaenda Nakuru?” Moments later, he heard a woman screaming for help.
When he rushed outside, a nearby hotel owner informed him that a young woman had staggered to the entrance while bleeding heavily before collapsing.
Responding officers found the woman’s body lying in a pool of blood. Police said she had sustained a deep stab wound to her upper left leg.
Victim Was Travelling to Naivasha
Preliminary investigations indicate that Waithira had been waiting to travel to Naivasha when she was attacked.
Despite her injuries, she reportedly managed to run towards the nearby hotel in a desperate attempt to seek assistance but succumbed before help could arrive.
Police said the deceased was employed at Sanctuary Farm in Naivasha.
Crime scene investigators processed the area before the body was moved to Uphome Mortuary, where a post-mortem examination will be conducted to establish the exact cause of death.
Detectives are now investigating the motive behind the killing and working to identify and apprehend those responsible.
