Police officers from Cheptulu Police Station in Tiriki East Sub-County have arrested a suspected illicit alcohol dealer during an intelligence-led operation in Shaviringa, Vihiga County.

The suspect, who police described as a notorious chang’aa dealer, had reportedly been evading arrest before officers tracked him down during the operation.

400 Litres of Chang’aa Recovered

During the raid, officers recovered 400 litres of chang’aa, which was seized as evidence.

The suspect was taken into police custody and is awaiting processing and arraignment in court. The recovered illicit brew has been secured as an exhibit pending the conclusion of investigations.

Police Commend Public Cooperation

The National Police Service praised members of the public for providing information that led to the successful operation, emphasizing that community cooperation remains critical in the fight against illicit alcohol and drug-related crimes.

Police also reiterated their commitment to sustaining operations targeting the manufacture, distribution, and sale of illegal brews across the country.
