Police in Meru County have launched investigations after the body of an unidentified man was discovered in a maize plantation in Imenti Central Sub-County.
According to police, the incident was reported on Thursday after a resident informed officers that his son, Lewis Munene, had stumbled upon the body while working on the family’s approximately 15-hectare maize farm.
Officers who visited the scene found the body of an unidentified adult male lying on the ground with visible bruises on his back and both arms.
The injuries prompted investigators to classify the incident as a suspected murder.
Police also recovered a black bag containing assorted clothing a few metres from where the body was found. Investigators believe the items may belong to the deceased and could assist in establishing his identity.
Crime scene investigators documented and processed the area before the body was moved to Kanyakine Sub-County Hospital Mortuary.
The body is awaiting identification and a post-mortem examination to establish the exact cause of death as detectives continue with investigations.
