Three suspects have been remanded in custody as detectives investigate the death of a 26-year-old man who allegedly died after being assaulted during a dispute over a KSh1,000 bill at a nightclub in Nairobi’s Kawangware estate.

Police said the suspects, including a bartender and a security officer, were arrested following the death of Edwin Nyariki.

According to investigators, Nyariki had visited the nightclub to watch a FIFA World Cup football match when an altercation reportedly broke out between him and members of staff over an alleged unpaid bill.

The confrontation is said to have escalated, resulting in Nyariki being assaulted.

A post-mortem examination established that the 26-year-old died from severe internal bleeding and multiple injuries, including fractured limbs, investigators said.

The three suspects have since been arraigned in court and were remanded as police continue with investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Detectives are expected to complete their investigations before making further recommendations on the charges the suspects may face.
