Digital creator Boina has revealed that she shut down her waxing parlour in Nairobi CBD after discovering that some employees were allegedly diverting customer payments to their personal phone numbers.

According to Boina, some staff members were reportedly asking clients to send payments directly to their personal numbers instead of the business account.

She said the practice resulted in significant financial losses for the business, with the losses reportedly accumulating every month.

The revelation has sparked conversations about the challenges entrepreneurs face when managing businesses and trusting employees with financial transactions.

Boina’s experience also highlights the importance of proper payment systems, financial controls and regular monitoring of business transactions to prevent revenue leakage.
