Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has revealed that he used to hand around Kenyatta University together with President William Ruto during their days in campus and it paid off as the two eventually married students from the institution.

The DP is married to Pastor Dorcas Rigathi while President Ruto is married to Rachael. Coincidentally, the head of state and the second in command both attended the University of Nairobi while their wives graduated from Kenyatta University.

During a graduation ceremony at KU where DP Rigathi was the chief guest on Friday, Riggy G as he is famously known nowadays left those present in stitches as he narrated how the university gave him and the president good wives.

“My return here after many years is very momentous and very emotional. The president was meant to be here but he asked me to come and represent him. He also has an emotional attachment to this great institution. Many years ago, when I was at the University of Nairobi and the president was there with us too, there was a common agreement among all of us that if you wanted a good wife, you go to KU, I don’t know whether that is still true today,” he said

“He narrated that back in 1987, he used to board a bus and head to KU and spend time around the school to spot a woman who would captivate him. “I took a bus number 45, to hang around here, looking around. We would go there to KM and spend time there. Tukitegea tegea na kuangalia. Nikatembea hapo hall ilikuwa inaitwa Ruwenzori. I don’t know whether it’s still there. Nikang’ang’ana, nikaangalia nikapata kasichana kazuri, kikakaongelesha vizuri, nikakaimbia poem kidogo namna hio akaingia box,’ he added.
