A multi-agency team from Narok County and the Kenya Red Cross have initiated efforts to recover the bodies of two Maasai Mara University students who drowned in the Enkare-Narok River.
The river burst its banks overnight due to heavy rainfall experienced nationwide.
Narok County Commissioner Kipkech Loltiatia, who inspected various points along the riverbank, stated that the two students were curious about the surging waters before tragedy struck.
“They were two youths who were trying to cross to the other side but instead passed through an impassable section. There is a bridge but it seems they became just curious to know the extent of the river’s overflow…one of them tripped and as the partner was trying to help him, he fell and they were swept away,” Loltiatia explained.
