Former Prisons Commissioner Isaiah Osugo is dead.
His family says he passed on last night at the Nairobi Hospital ICU where he had been admitted for a week.
Osugo is a career police officer who served as the prisons boss from September 2008 when he was plucked from the police by former President Mwai Kibaki.
He retired in 2019 on attaining the mandatory retirement age.
Osugo is credited for steering far-reaching reforms at the prisons department.
He has previously served as the Provincial Criminal Investigations Officer in Nairobi among other postings within the police ranks
