Telkom, Faiba, and Zuku dominate Kenya’s fixed internet speeds

According to a recent report by French network-testing firm nPerf, Telkom, Faiba, and Zuku have outperformed Safaricom in terms of fixed internet speeds over the past 12 months up to March 2024.

The data from the survey indicates that Telkom recorded the highest upload and download speeds, with an average of 33.04 Mbps in downloads and 29.97 Mbps in uploads. Faiba followed closely with average download speeds of 27.73 Mbps and upload speeds of 21.63 Mbps.

Zuku also showed strong performance with average download speeds of 22.75 Mbps and upload speeds of 17.04 Mbps. However, Safaricom’s fixed internet offerings trailed slightly behind, with average download speeds of 19.76 Mbps and upload speeds of 15.81 Mbps.

Despite this, Safaricom surpassed all other providers in terms of YouTube streaming speeds, with Faiba coming in second. Meanwhile, Faiba led in web browsing speeds, followed by Safaricom and Zuku.

In terms of market share, Safaricom holds the largest share at 36.7%, followed by Faiba at 23.7%, and Zuku at 19.6%. Poa Internet holds a 12.8% share, while Mawingu Networks has a 2% share.
