The Public Service Commission has ratified the promotion of 10 senior Prisons officers to the rank of Assistant Commissioner General.

The commission also promoted 29 others to the rank of Deputy Commissioner of prisons. Commissioner General John Warioba made the announcement in a memo.

Those promoted to the rank of ACG include Jane Kiiri (prison’s headquarters), Dan Obiero (PHQ), Athman Ali Amin (Regional Commander North Eastern), Priscilla Majere (Staff College), James Muriithi (HQ), Patrick Isaboke (Nairobi Remand and Allocation), Peter Ndung’u (PHQ), Bison Madegwa (Kamiti Maximum), Barnaba Kipsang (Eldoret Main) and Mathews Kimanzi (PHQ).

Warioba said in a memo dated January 6 the promotions were ratified in December 2022.
The commission promoted Hassan Mukavane, Erastus Wahome, Peter Mwangi, Stanley Chenze, Philip Atonya, Paul Kones, Martin Akwanyi, Abdallah Siomi, Aggrey Akoyo, Mathew Mutisya, Benson Makori, David Ndumu, George Dianga, Leah Mukora, Hassan Adan, Jonathan Mwavita, Benson Mbogori, Wilfred Kati and David Kiptoo to the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Prisons.

Others are Samuel Kiplagtigat, Nicholas Awandau, Eric Nyambane, Samuel Kibelion, Cathrene Ndereba, Japhet Onchiri, Yusuf Kipyeko, Joseph Kirui, Billy Khoshall and Josephine Wanza.

Most of the promotions had stagnated for long amid complaints from within. The department is staring at major changes after a task force appointed by president William Ruto finishes its hearings.
