Mary Wanjiru, the sister to the late Fridah Warau Kamuyu who drowned alongside her boyfriend Titus Kiiru in a dam in Juja has asked well-wishers to help her fly to Kenya from Saudi Arabia so that she can pay her respects to kin who is set to be laid to rest on Wednesday next week.
Fridah, a 22-year-old college student was positively identified by her family yesterday after spending more than a week as unidentified person at the City Mortuary.
Speaking to Inooro TV, via a phone interview, Wanjiru said that she does not have the financial capabilities to foot her own air travel ticket from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
“I am currently in Saudi Arabia and would like to be assisted in travelling back home so that I can give my sister a proper send-off,” said Wanjiru.
She has also lamented on how due to the fact that she miles away she cant grieve with her family members back home.
“For us, as family members, we are in great pain. I am all alone here and I have no one to comfort me or talk to,” she said.
An autopsy conducted on Kamuyu’s body on Thursday revealed that she died due to drowning after a vehicle she was in with Kiiru, 39 plunged into the Titanic dam in Juja, Kiambu County.
On the fateful day, the two are reported to have been together inside a Nissan X-trail vehicle, which they had parked at the edge of the dam, a popular hangout spot for revelers. The vehicle would however plunge into the dam at around 7 pm under unclear circumstances.
