The Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has suffered a major blow as the court refused to grant instant orders for access to CCTV footage of former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi’s Karen home in Nairobi during an alleged police raid.

Milimani Magistrate Wandia Nyamu declined to issue the access orders and directed the DCI to serve the private security firm Bob Morgan Security Limited which installed and controls the CCTV cameras at Matiang’i home with the application.

The case will be mentioned on March 7 for directions.

The fresh setback for the DCI comes just a week after the investigative agency was granted permission to access and retrieve footage for Karen Ngong view, where Matiang’i home is located. The DCI however discovered that the footage does not cover Matiangi’s home prompting them to seek fresh orders.
