Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and retired president Uhuru Kenyatta are in Burundi for the 11th summit of the Regional Oversight Mechanism (ROM) of the Peace, Security and Cooperation (PSC) Framework for the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and the region.

President Évariste Ndayishimiye (Burundi), Cyril Ramaphosa (South Africa), Felix Tshisekedi (DRC), Faustin Touadéra (CAR), United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, African Union Commission Chairperson Moussa Faki, are among delegates attending the high-level meeting.

Uhuru is attending the summit in his capacity as the AU-Kenya Peace Envoy and Facilitator of the EAC-led Nairobi Peace Process. The meeting is limited to heads of state whose countries are signatory to the Framework Agreement for Peace, Security and Cooperation for the DRC.

The high-level meeting will review progress and challenges in the implementation of the commitments under the Framework signed in Addis Ababa, 24 February 24, 2013.

It will also focus on the full implementation of the decisions made in the Nairobi and Luanda peace processes, and discuss the contribution of the Contact and Coordination Group on Non-Military Measures to efforts aimed at strengthening security cooperation for the eradication of armed groups in eastern DRC.

The Addis Ababa agreement was signed by Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Angola, Republic of Congo, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Central African Republic (CAR), Burundi, Rwanda, South Sudan and Zambia.
