Citizen TV News anchor Willis Raburu announced on Monday, June 26, that he would be leaving the station after 13 years.
In a self-recorded video lasting four minutes, Raburu expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to have worked at the Royal Media-owned station. He reflected on his journey having joined as an intern, to becoming one of the top media personalities in the country.
Raburu mentioned that he had been reflecting on his life in recent weeks and gratitude had become a general theme for him. He thanked his viewers for their support over the 13 years. Mr. Raburu also expressed appreciation for the chance to do what he loves.

The presenter announced that he had tendered his resignation letter at the beginning of June and his last day at the station would be Friday, June 30, 2023. Raburu acknowledged the immense support he received from his employers during the transition.
During his time at Royal Media Services, Raburu had the opportunity to grow in different multimedia sectors. These included conducting interviews with President William Ruto and former President Uhuru Kenyatta. Other achievements included hosting the show “10 Over 10,” which targets the youth and focuses on music, content, and entertainment.
Being ‘Undefined’
Raburu revealed that he had written a book called “Undefined” to document his experiences at Royal Media. The book, which highlights his various talents, was already available for sale. He expressed gratitude to his colleagues for their support. He stated that being “undefined” allowed him to appreciate every aspect of his talent instead of being confined to one box.
As for his future plans, Raburu disclosed that he would be taking a break from the media. He intended to rest and share his knowledge through his book. He will continue pursuing his Master’s degree in Strategic Communications and Communications for Development at the United States International University (USIU).
Raburu joins other top media personalities to have left the industry in recent days. Most notable are Ferdinand Omondi and Ciku Muiruri who left the BBC, and Leila Mohamed who left Nation Media Group after 10 years of service.
