“I will not allow any more protests,” orders Ruto

President William Ruto has issued a firm warning regarding the upcoming Azimio protests scheduled for Wednesday.

Addressing the public in Ruai on Tuesday, the President made it clear that he will not tolerate any loss of life as a result of protests.

“Last Friday, they held demonstrations, and we cannot allow more Kenyan lives to be lost. Do you want another protest where more lives are lost? It will not happen,” Ruto stated emphatically.

Ruto emphasized that he will not permit any deaths for the sake of individual political satisfaction.

He urged the opposition to accept the results of the August 2022 elections and move forward.

“If you want another election, wait for the IEBC’s timetable for the next general elections. It is time to focus on working,” he added.

Opposition leader Raila Odinga has vowed to lead his supporters in anti-government protests on Wednesday.

The demonstrations are expected to take place in various parts of the country, with key members of the Azimio coalition already dispatched to lead grassroots-level protests.

Last Friday’s Saba Saba demonstrations gained momentum as protests were staged in several regions, including Kisumu, Mombasa, Kisii, Kakamega, Kirinyaga, Machakos, and Nyahururu.

Initially, the protests were mainly concentrated in Nairobi and Kisumu.

However, these protests have often resulted in clashes between the police and demonstrators.

Tear gas, arrests, and water cannons have become common during these events, and tomorrow’s protests are unlikely to be an exception.

During the Saba Saba protests last Friday, six people were reportedly shot dead by the police in Kisii, Migori, and Kisumu. Additionally, over 100 people were arrested, and several others sustained injuries.
