Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has urged Members of Parliament from Western Kenya to unite and advocate for more resources for the region. Mudavadi emphasized the importance of utilizing their numerical strength in Parliament to lobby for increased resources that will benefit the development of Western Kenya. He stated:

“We have an opportunity to uplift the livelihoods of our people. Speaker Moses Wetangula is our point person in Parliament and I am your point man at the Executive. Legislators should unite and also play their role too.”

Mudavadi also cautioned Western Kenya leaders against engaging in petty politics and encouraged them to prioritize working for the people. He highlighted that appropriations for budgetary allocation and resource lobbying occur in Parliament, stating:

“Appropriation for budgetary allocation and lobbying for resources does not happen in funerals. It only happens in Parliament when legislators unite and focus by putting the eyes on the ball. Locals should not be blaming legislators for not attending funerals, but for failing to champion for their needs in parliament.”

Speaking at a thanksgiving ceremony in Bunambo village, Tongaren Constituency, Mudavadi stressed the need for unity and dispelled rumors of supremacy wars between himself and Speaker Moses Wetangula:

“There are leaders, especially politicians who are hoping from one funeral to another engaging in petty gossip, talking about non-existence supremacy wars between my brother Wetangula and I. I want to tell them they should stop that nonsense.”

Mudavadi reflected on the unity between himself and Wetangula during the 2022 General Election and their decision to support President William Ruto, stating:

“Wetangula and I, in the run-up to the 2022 General Election, reflected and did thorough soul searching. We listened to the voices on the ground. The voice of the people was strong and that is why we decided to shake the political landscape of Kenya.”

He emphasized their commitment to the people of Western Kenya and called for their support for Ruto’s government:

“I want to urge you, the people of Western Kenya, to unite behind your leaders, Wetangula and I cannot betray you. We have good intentions for this region. This is the reason I am urging you let us support Ruto’s government.”

Looking ahead to the 2027 political landscape, Mudavadi encouraged Western leaders to prepare themselves and increase their support for Ruto:

“Let us begin preparing ourselves for the reality of 2027 – and the reality in our minds should be that we need to add more into our basket for the votes we deliver for Ruto.”

Mudavadi also highlighted President Ruto’s focus on using technology to improve service delivery and tackle exploitation:

“President Ruto’s government is banking on technology to ensure smooth and proper service delivery by sealing loopholes that brokers and middlemen have been using to exploit Kenyans.”

Mudavadi assured the residents that efforts are being made to improve service delivery for the benefit of all Kenyans.
