Kenyan detectives on Friday, September 15, arrested a Polish drug trafficking suspect with $22,000 (Ksh 3.2 million) worth of heroin at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Nairobi.

The suspect identified as Arkadiusz Stanislaw, 37, was arrested at Terminal 1C moments before boarding a Hungary-bound Egyptian airline at the airport.

Police have detained the suspect who is awaiting to be arraigned in court.

The trafficker who was destined for Hungary’s capital (Budapest) will be charged with possession and trafficking of narcotics.

Police are however yet to establish the source of the narcotics found on the man.

Kenya’s Director of Anti-Narcotics Directorate Margaret Karanja warned that all drug suspects will be treated with the “severity” of the law, regardless of their roles in the trade.

Kenya is a key transit point for drugs from the Middle East to the West.

Some Kenyans have been arrested with narcotics in India raising concerns there could be more of the drugs locally.
