A family in Muchatha, Kiambu County is asking serious questions about the sudden death of their kin who is said to have jumped to her death, saying there is no evidence that she was suffering from any form of stress or depression.
Faith Wanjiku Muchugi, 19 died mysteriously last week on Thursday (September, 28) after she succumbed to injuries sustained after falling from the seventh floor of White House Apartments. This is at least according to the management of the building.
According to the building’s management, Jane made the jump at about 10 pm on that night and died on the spot.
Her family has however disputed this version of events and reported the matter to Karuri Police Station claiming that Faith was in a very jovial mood and there is nothing that suggests that she was suffering from any form of stress.
Infact according to them, Faith had just attended a prayer day at Karuri High School where she was the head girl in 2022 on the same day and that she was very jovial throughout. Additionally, the family says Faith was very active on social media and was contributing to group discussions on Whatsapp up to around 9:54 pm.
In one WhatsApp group conversation that has been forwarded to the police and is part of the investigations, Faith was apparently having an argument with another girl called Jane, who was seemingly drunk.
“I am telling you she is drunk,” said Faith in one of the conversations presented to the police.
“Weh, please save me,” she said in what was one of her last texts.
This message was sent at 9:54 pm last Thursday, just six minutes before Faith reportedly jumped to her death from the seventh floor of White House Apartments. She was 19.
Her parents now say that there is evidence that there was a second person in the house she was in before Faith fell to her death. Additionally, neighbours also say that they heard a commotion in the house that night.
Faith’s parents have also asked the police to investigate whether the argument their daughter had on WhatsApp is related to her death.
She is set to be buried this week on Friday; October 6 in Njoro, Kiambu as investigations go on.
