Police are investigating the heartbreaking death of a 2-year-old child who reportedly succumbed to injuries inflicted by her parents. The incident unfolded after the toddler allegedly refused to eat on a fateful Monday evening, prompting a series of tragic events.

According to concerned neighbours who witnessed the distressing incident, the couple responsible for the child’s care resorted to physical punishment when she refused her meal. This ill-fated decision resulted in visible bruises on the child’s delicate body.

In a frantic attempt to seek medical attention for the injured child, the distressed family rushed her to a nearby clinic.

However, the gravity of her injuries necessitated further treatment, and she was subsequently referred to Mama Lucy Hospital. Tragically, before she could reach the hospital, the young child’s life came to a devastating end.

Compounding this already tragic situation is the fact that the woman in the family is the stepmother to the child, as the little one’s biological mother had previously passed away. This additional layer of complexity has left the community in shock and sorrow.

Gladys Wamboi, a neighbor of the family, expressed her distress over the incident, saying, “They beat up the child for refusing to eat. It wasn’t the first time they did that.” This statement underscores the severity of the situation and raises concerns about prior instances of abuse that may have occurred.

In response to this heartbreaking incident, the couple responsible for the child’s care has been taken into custody by the authorities. Local law enforcement agencies are now actively conducting a thorough investigation to determine the exact cause of the child’s tragic demise.
