Former celebrity news anchor with the popular vernacular TV station, Inooro TV, Ken WaKuraya is set to launch a book and his new website just months after getting fired from Royal Media Services.
The former news anchor seems to be following a path taken by several media employees who have taken advantage of low barriers of entry courtesy of technology in order to maintain their relevance in a fast-changing industry.
Wakuraya’s new book ‘Muugi Mugikuyu’ (A wise kikuyu) and website kenlive.co.ke will ne launched at the Sports View Hotel in Kasarani, Nairobi on October 7.
The tiff began with claims over Ken’s weekly anecdotes where he ideally mentioned Hellen, his editor, as a controlling boss and always seeking to micro-manage people reporting to her.
Ken WaKuraya had been a building block toward Inooro’s success and has worked with the TV station since its inception.
Sources close to the Sauce team told us he left the Royal Media Service (RMS), which is Citizen TV’s parent company disciplinary panel consisting of the Human Resource Manager, Rose Wanjohi, and former NTV Managing Editor, Linus Kaikai who is now the Chief Operations Officer for Royal Media Services plus his co-host Njambi Njau.
Ken has had a controversial career since his days as an actor with the popular local TV show, Tahidi High, which was also a major hit with the TV station, Citizen TV.
During the last general elections, he tried his hand in politics, vying for a Member of Parliament seat for Ndaragua constituency. His ambitions flopped after Mt. Kenya leaders decided Jeremiah Kioni who was the seating member at the time should continue carrying the political mantle.
