Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has emphatically rejected the perception of tension and discord between himself and his superior, President William Ruto.
Speaking at the United Democratic Alliance National Women Congress held at the Bomas of Kenya on Friday, DP Gachagua reaffirmed his unwavering bond with the president, emphasizing that their friendship, which spans over two decades, transcends the realm of politics and leadership.
He dismissed the alleged rift as a mere “imaginary creation” propagated by critics who are yet to come to terms with the fact that both he and President Ruto emerged victorious in the elections.
Gachagua firmly stated, “The Government, under the able leadership of President William Ruto, is united, solid, and stable. There can never be division or conflict. That is a creation of people who are still living in denial.”
He further elaborated, “We have been friends for over 20 years, and our friendship surpasses the presidency.”
Addressing critics with a touch of ridicule, Gachagua asserted that the relationship between him and the president had been fortified by their shared commitment to the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda under the UDA party, and no division should be anticipated.
The Deputy President expressed his belief that those attempting to sow discord were merely envious of the UDA’s leadership due to the country’s positive trajectory.
“The President and I are united by the ideology of Bottom-Up Economic Transformation for the people of this country,” he underlined.
He also noted, “There were many who gave the President no chance. Now, they are envious of his success. He has garnered international acclaim and is making substantial progress in the economic transformation of our nation. As a result, they want to fabricate problems, but there will be none.”
