For the fifth consecutive year, Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park has been crowned the best in Africa, solidifying its reputation as a top-notch destination for wildlife enthusiasts and nature lovers.
This prestigious accolade was bestowed upon the Serengeti in the World Travel Awards (WTA), a globally recognized body that recognizes and rewards excellence in travel and tourism.
Renowned for its awe-inspiring wildebeest migration, the Serengeti has been consistently impressing visitors and conservationists alike. This remarkable streak of victories began in 2019 and has been a testament to the park’s outstanding natural beauty and diverse wildlife.
The Tanzania National Parks Authority (Tanapa), the governing body responsible for the management of the country’s national parks, celebrated the Serengeti’s latest triumph.
Competing against six other remarkable parks across the African continent, the Serengeti’s consistent excellence stood out.
Among the contenders were Botswana’s Central Kalahari Game Reserve, known for its pristine wilderness and unique desert-adapted species. Namibia’s Etosha National Park, celebrated for its salt pans and diverse wildlife, also vied for the title.
Uganda’s Kidepo Valley National Park, characterized by its rugged landscapes and rich biodiversity, was another contender.
South Africa’s Kruger National Park, a world-famous destination teeming with wildlife and stunning landscapes, and Kenya’s Masai Mara National Reserve, famous for its dramatic wildebeest migration, also joined the competition.
