At least 10 individuals have tragically lost their lives in the coastal region due to the relentless heavy rains pounding the region.

Among the casualties are two Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) officers who were swept away by floods while attempting to cross the swollen River Ramisi in Lungalunga sub-county.

The unfortunate incident occurred on Friday night as they were traveling from Lungalunga station to Mombasa. Although the car they were in has been recovered, the bodies of the officers remain missing.

In Tiwi ward, two other individuals were swept away by floods, with one body successfully retrieved while the search for the other is still ongoing. Additionally, another person faced a similar fate in Vanga.

Tragedy struck in Kinango, where one person was swept away by floods, while in Msambweni, another individual lost their life due to electrocution while pruning a tree in the rain.

The impact of the incessant rains has wreaked havoc across the county, affecting at least 681 households and resulting in the destruction of over 1,000 acres of farmland.

Diani, in particular, has witnessed severe consequences, with 108 houses submerged in water, compelling occupants to endure a night exposed to the elements. Kona ya Musa, a specific area in Diani, saw residents forced to sleep outdoors as relentless floods rendered their homes inaccessible on that fateful Friday night.
