Jacque Matubia’s marriage to Kennedy Njogu ultimately ended in divorce, and the actress has recently revealed the financial toll it took on her.
In a candid interview with Elizabeth Ngigi of Nairobi News, Matubia disclosed that she spent approximately Ksh 300,000 during the divorce proceedings in 2019.
Detailing her experience, Matubia explained, “I used roughly Sh300,000 for the process; that would change depending on your case. If you guys have assets together, a problem with child support. There is just a lot. There are a lot of hearings and so on. Mine was even traumatizing because it was during the Covid-19 period, so your case is mentioned, you can’t go to court, you do online, then it’s canceled. That trauma really got to me.”
The challenges of the divorce process, compounded by the disruptions caused by the pandemic, left a lasting impact on Matubia. Reflecting on her ordeal, she expressed hesitancy about the prospect of another white wedding.
“As someone who has been married before and gone through the scare of going through the divorce process, divorce in Kenya is not easy, and there is a lot of back and forth. You get scared of being married, getting that certificate,” she shared.
Matubia has been in the headlines this year due to her separation from her baby daddy and fellow actor, Blessing Lung’aho.
Confirming their breakup in July, Matubia posted a message on social media, stating, “I’ve already met Mr. Player, Mr. Stupid, Mr. Idiot, Mr. Psycho, Mr. Cheap, Mr. Lazy, Mr. User, Mr. Know It All, Mr. Control Freak, and Mr. Stalker, Where the hell is Mr right?”
