Kenya is set to become the first country in the world to abolish visa requirements for its visitors beginning January next year, President William Ruto has announced.
While addressing Kenyans on the 60th Jamhuri Day, President Ruto said that Kenya is the cradle of mankind and there is no reason why people should be charged when visiting their home.
“Kenya is the home of humanity, a scientific fact that fills us with pride and underscores our rich heritage,” said Ruto.
“Beginning January 2024, Kenya will be a visa free country. It shall no longer be necessary for any person to carry the burden of a applying for a visa to come to Kenya,” he said.
