Eleven people have been confirmed dead following an accident involving a bus and a lorry at Othoo area in Nyando sub-county along the Kisumu-Nairobi Highway.

While confirming the accident, Nyanza Regional Traffic Enforcement Officer Allan Mwangi added that dozens of other passengers had been injured with various degrees of injuries following the 2:30am accident.

The dead include two women, 8 men, and a teenage boy.

A total of 53 passengers have suffered injuries as a result of the accident.

Some of the injured were transported to Ahero Sub-county Hospital while others were taken to the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH)
