A 70-year-old man is currently in police custody on charges of allegedly murdering his 32-year-old son in Kirinyaga, following a land dispute.

Francis Njagi, the suspect, was apprehended, according to Police Commander Johnson Wachira from Gichugu, due to an incident that occurred in Gwama village, Karumandi Ward.

The dispute arose when Njagi engaged in a heated argument with his son, James Mwobe, over a piece of land. The suspect’s wife, Irene Njagi, reported that their son had plans to plant macadamia on the contested land.

The disagreement escalated, resulting in the suspect fatally stabbing his son. James Mwobe was declared dead upon arrival at Kianyaga sub-county hospital.

“A neighbor rushed him to the hospital following a distress call from the deceased’s mother,” stated the police.

The deceased’s body has been transported to Kerugoya Mortuary, and ongoing investigations will determine the course of action against the suspect.
