Justice Fatuma Sichale has officially assumed the role of the Court of Appeal’s representative on the Judiciary Service Commission (JSC) following her swearing-in ceremony.
The swearing-in ceremony was administered by Chief Justice Martha Koome on Monday, February 05, 2024.
The assumption of the role by the new representative, Justice Sichale, marks the end of service of Justice Mohammed Warsame, who completed his second term.
Chief Justice Koome expressed confidence in Justice Sichale’s appointment and highlighted the need for her extensive experience to contribute to promoting an independent and transparent judiciary.
“I am certain you will be a valuable team player in the commission. Your 40 years in service is a rich addition which I’m sure will add value to the commission,” CJ Koome remarked.
Acknowledging the outgoing Justice Warsame, Chief Justice Koome thanked him for his dedicated service throughout his years in office, recognizing him as an integral figure in advancing judicial independence.
Following the swearing-in, Justice Sichale expressed gratitude for being selected for the position and pledged to serve with diligence and integrity.
“40 years ago I was on these same premises interviewing to be a district magistrate 2,” Justice Sichale recalled.
“To be sworn in today is the pinnacle of one’s judicial career. I undertake to work hard and diligently and to be of service to all, regardless of their position and stature,” she added.
