Dr. Andrew Mulwa, the CEO of the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA), has been honored with the prestigious African Governance Award for 2024.

The award ceremony took place during the 2024 African Governance Conference and Gala Award held in Mauritius on February 8, 2024.

KEMSA was also recognized as the “Most Outstanding Medical Supplies Authority across Africa” at the event.

In his acceptance speech, Dr. Mulwa attributed his success to his upbringing and education in Watuka Primary School, Makueni county. He emphasized the importance of perseverance and determination in achieving success, regardless of one’s background.

Dr. Mulwa also commended the dedicated staff of KEMSA and the support of the Kenyan government, particularly the Ministry of Health, in overcoming challenges and ensuring the supply of essential medical products and technologies to the people of Kenya.

KEMSA Board Chair, Irungu Nyakera, congratulated Dr. Mulwa on his achievement and reaffirmed the authority’s commitment to providing excellent healthcare services to Kenyans.

Nyakera stated that KEMSA will continue to uphold standards of excellence in healthcare provision both locally and internationally.

Dr. Mulwa’s recognition was based on his nomination by the African public and the verification of his nomination claims regarding his conduct, performance, and impact.

The Business Executive Media Group, organizers of the event, confirmed Dr. Mulwa’s outstanding contributions to governance and healthcare in Africa.

Dr. Mulwa assumed the role of KEMSA CEO in May 2023, demonstrating strong leadership and dedication to advancing healthcare in Kenya.
