Mugithi singer Samidoh has sparked controversy after a public appearance alongside DJ Fatxo, a figure previously implicated in the tragic death of Samidoh’s nephew, Jeff Mwathi.
Having recently reunited with his family in Boston, where they had relocated eight months prior, Samidoh’s return was initially met with anticipation. However, his presence alongside DJ Fatxo and former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko at Habanos Lounge on Kiambu Road sparked a flurry of reactions on social media.
Photographs of Samidoh and DJ Fatxo together, shared by the latter, elicited mixed responses from Kenyans. Many questioned the timing of their apparent reconciliation, particularly in light of the controversial circumstances surrounding Jeff Mwathi’s demise.
Mwathi, aged 23, tragically passed away last year after reportedly falling to his death from DJ Fatxo’s residence in Kasarani estate. This incident cast a shadow of suspicion over DJ Fatxo, although subsequent investigations by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) ultimately led to his acquittal.
The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) concluded that DJ Fatxo was not involved in Mwathi’s death, citing CCTV footage from the apartment that depicted his absence during the incident. Despite this exoneration, the case had garnered significant public interest and scrutiny.
The sight of Samidoh and DJ Fatxo together reignited speculation and raised eyebrows among some Kenyans, prompting questions about the nature of their renewed association in the aftermath of such a tragic event.
