In an incident that has shocked the residents of Mirimaini area of Juja in Kiambu County, a man is reported to have brutally attacked and killed his estranged wife while onlookers stood helpless unable to intervene.
According to witnesses, the woman who was trying to get away from the man ran into a friend’s house with the man hot on her heels.
The assailant, after chasing her inside the house then locked the door and stabbed the woman before slitting her throat in the horrific attack.
After killing the woman, the man then attempted to take his own life.
“He then pulled out a knife and a machete he was carrying in a bag and began stabbing her in the neck,” witnesses recounted, describing the chilling sequence of events.
“When neighbors intervened, it was too late as the suspect attempted to kill himself,” said the police
The man was apprehended by residents and law enforcement officers, swiftly transported to the hospital, writhing in agony after inflicting wounds upon himself in the stomach and chest.
“We are investigating the matter to know more. Unfortunately, it happened,” commented Kiambu police commander Michael Muchiri, stating that the motive is yet to be established.
Residents disclosed that the couple had been experiencing domestic discord and had been separated for some time.
