A tragic incident occurred at the Tirupati zoo on Thursday when a man lost his life while attempting to take a selfie with a lion.
The victim, identified as 38-year-old Prahlad Gujjar from Alwar in Rajasthan, entered an area of the Sri Venkateswara Zoological Park that is not open to the public. Despite warnings from a caretaker to stay away, Gujjar proceeded to climb a fence over 25 feet tall and jumped into the lion enclosure.
Once inside, Gujjar attempted to take a photo with the lion, named Dongalpur. Tragically, before the caretaker could intervene, Dongalpur attacked Gujjar, resulting in fatal injuries.
Authorities at the zoo have registered a police case, and a post-mortem examination is underway to determine the exact cause of death. Additionally, investigators are looking into whether Gujjar was under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the incident.
Gujjar, who was visiting the zoo alone, had not been in contact with his family. Authorities are currently working to notify his relatives of the tragic event.
