Police and national government officers from Embu County, working on a tip-off from a member of the public conducted a security operation on Monday, February 26, that led to the confiscation of over 1,400 litres of illicit brew.
The operation which was led by County Commissioner Jack Obour and Police Commander Nicholas Maina, raided a shop in Kianjokoma market, Runyenjes, disguised as an agrovet and milk cooling plant.
Inside the supposed ‘milk cooling plant’, the officers discovered thousands of crates filled with illicit brew.
The operation saw the arrest of one suspect and with the over 1,400 crates of the illegal brew seized as evidence.
The confiscated items were taken to Itabua Police Station for further investigation by a team that includes the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) and the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA).
